One of the biggest challenges in our education system is the gap between theory and practice. Students often memorize concepts for exams, but when it comes to using tools or handling real-life tasks, they hesitate. To solve this problem, CBSE has introduced Composite Skill Labs for schools across India.
Think of it as a workshop inside the school, where students don’t just learn from books but actually try things with their own hands.
Schools can choose to set up either:
Two smaller labs of 400 sq. ft. each, one for Classes 6–10 and the other for Classes 11–12.
Existing schools have up to three years to establish one.
This move is also closely linked to the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which highlights skill-based learning as an essential part of modern education.
Encouragement to think creatively and even explore entrepreneurship
In simple words – it helps students become not only book-smart but also life-smart.
Linking lab activities with the existing school curriculum
Engaging, future-ready learning environments
